Veteran Funeral Services

During their time in the military, a veteran makes many sacrifices to protect our nation and allow us at home to enjoy the freedoms and comforts we have. When it comes time to honor their life, we believe it should be done with the utmost dignity and respect. At Lassahn Funeral Homes, we consider it an honor to assist families in Nottingham and Kingsville with veteran funeral services.

From helping plan the details of a military funeral to applying for veterans death benefits, our funeral homes will be here to assist you each step of the way.

Determining Military Funeral Eligibility

Before we can begin to plan a military funeral for your loved one, we must first determine the deceased’s eligibility. This is done by providing us with a copy of the deceased’s DD Form 214. This is an important document that is provided to a member of the military upon their discharge, retirement, or separation from active duty in one of the branches of the United States Armed Forces.

Once this form has been presented to the funeral director, we will contact the appropriate offices to verify its authenticity. Upon verification, we will contact the appropriate Military Service to request funeral honors and can begin making funeral arrangements with your family.

If you need to request a copy of your loved one’s DD Form 214, please visit here for more information.

  • Former military members who served active duty and departed under conditions other than dishonorable.
  • Former military members who completed at least one term of enlistment or period of initial obligated service in the Selected Reserve and departed under conditions other than dishonorable.
