Eleanor E. Jaeger, born December 28, 1913 dies early Sunday morning, April 7, 2013, after more than 99 active years. Eleanor was one of four children born to Fred and Mary Plumhoff, and grew up on Maple Avenue, now known as Northern parkway, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was married for 31 years to John Roedel Jaeger, Sr., who predeceased her in 1967.
She was put on the Cradle Roll at Overlea Methodist Church (now Overlea Chapel UMC) where she remained a member throughout her life. She was very active in the church, singing in the choir, President and Treasurer of United Methodist Women, Chairperson of the Trustees, served on the finance committee, volunteer for over 50 years on the Annual Bake Sale and many other church functions. She served on the Board of Managers for Wesley Home and was a volunteer at Franklin Square Hospital for over 20 years until the age of 91 years. She moved to Annapolis, MD in 2005 to live with her son and daughter in law. While there she attended Crofton United Methodist Church and became active in the Seasoned Seniors and Stitchers.
She traveled extensively her adult life throughout the US (including Hawaii and Alaska), Canada and Europe, and kept a written record of each trip or vacation she took; a marvelous record of her joys and sorrows for all family and loved ones to enjoy.
She is survived by her two sons, J. Roedel Jaeger, Jr. DDS, his wife Eunice, and R. Bruce Jaeger, his wife Millie; five grandchildren, Anne Brown, Jill Cassels-Smith, Jennifer Hardham, Julie McWhorter and Bart Jaeger, and seven great grandchildren, Lauren and Robby Brown, Ryan McWhorter, George and Duke Cassels-Smith, Rody Hardham and Elsie Jaeger.
The family will receive friends at the E.F. Lassahn Funeral Home, P.A. 11750 Belair Road (Kingsville) on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 3-5 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11:00am at Overlea Chapel United Methodist Church. Interment Parkwood Cemetery.
