Kid's Advocate
I was staying at Grandma's for a spell. I can't remember why but I must have been 6 or 7 years old at the time. I had been looking forward to and wanted to watch Captain Chesapeake, a popular kids television show on channel 45 in the 70's but Grandpop had the TV. Too intimidated or shy to directly ask Grandpop if I could watch Captain Chesapeake, I simply walked in the room and changed the channel to my desired station. Grandpop naturally responded by telling me to change the channel back to what he was watching as I'm sure most of us would - myself included. I walked out of the room and told Grandmom about the impending crisis and she promptly said to grandpop "you've been watching that TV all day. Let Chris watch what he wants to watch for a change". I was a little surprised by her tenacity and felt she was a little hard on her husband but Grandpop, without another word complied. To this day I still feel a tinge of guilt about how I handled that situation but Grandma was always there to back us up no matter what. God bless you Grandmom - I know you are still looking out for the younger generations.
